Accelerating its product development cycles, Caterpillar Inc needed a parts book publishing process to keep pace: not only with the speed of product development, but with the sheer volume of publishing required to keep each of its customers world-wide fully appropriately informed. IPS created a streamlined system allowing Perkins to create high-resolution PDF from variable input at the touch of a button.

IPS implemented an automated publishing system which integrates with MetaPhase, the underlying manufacturing control system, to allow for a specific Parts Book to be dynamically generated for each engine rolling out of the manufacturing plant. These multiiple language and complex books itemise each component within the sophisticated engine, greatly facillitating post sales fulfilment and ordering of repacement parts.
